"Pre-existing systems or structures are often the starting place for Gaia Alessi and Richard Bradbury. Coming into a space or situation they set about disrupting it in some way and this takes the form of some subtle shift or intervention, leading something away from its original purpose. The idea of this shift, something being disturbed from rest or having its trajectory changed is central to their practice, suggesting some structural crisis but one which could escape from our attention and so bring us to a kind of brink, the moment of it being too late to correct. They draw attention to detail and magnify the relation we have to our surrounding."
