Lee Yong Baek's work explores the no-man's land between two extremes; life-and-death, peace-and-war, buddha-and-jesus, east-and-west. But instead of seeing a clash and discourse of extremes, viewer has a harmonious yet non-blended and combined experience of video, performance and objects. In Angel Soldier, we see camouflaged soldiers moving silently and slowly in a field of flowers, suggesting the current state of military threat in Korea.
